The Art of Coaching Apprenticeship™ is research backed, and is the first event of its kind to truly bridge the gap between skilled interpersonal communication and leadership development across domains.

Put simply, the Art of Coaching Apprenticeship™ is a highly interactive 2-day live event that is focused on social skill development in today’s coaches and leaders, as well as the science behind what constitutes more effective leadership in chaotic environments. It is the first true resource of its kind and blends research-backed presentations, small group discussion, case studies, live evaluations, breakout sessions, and personalized video breakdowns. Oh, and a bit of laughter as well given that we do try and have a bit of fun amongst the two days.


These events are for everyone, regardless of vocation! If you work or interact with people in any fashion the content will be relevant to you! At Art of Coaching™, we define a “coach” as anyone who leads, guides, teaches or interacts with others. We have served teachers, business owners, members of the tactical community, first responders, sport coaches, and even therapists. If you want to enhance your ability to lead or communicate in any fashion- The Apprenticeship™ is for you.


One of the best things about The Apprenticeship™ is that the experience evolves and is never static! Some examples of topics covered are listed below, but we cannot emphasize enough that each workshop features a unique distribution of topics as we do our best to adapt to each population and the relevant context as well as how they interact with one another and the material.

The Apprenticeship™ is a two-day experience that goes from 8-5:45PM 

*Exact timeframe is subject to change and may vary depending on audience participation, questions, logistics as well as potential circumstances that may occur outside of our control. Please plan on blocking off 8-10 hours for each day.


While prior familiarity with Brett’s numerous resources certainly does help, we do not mandate that each participant has read the book or taken the courses. Please note, however, that previous material will not be covered in these two days as The Apprenticeship™ is a continuation of topics covered within Brett’s foundational resources.


Yes. Attendees will be required to sign a waiver for participation, and will also be required to answer a few quick questions so that the material can be better customized to enhance your experience at the event. We also require those attending to keep an open mind and to ensure that you enter the two days ready to engage, laugh, learn and be receptive to any and all feedback. Titles, awards or years of experience do not exempt any of us from being open to improvement, especially in the area of communication.

What Is The Cancellation Policy?

All sales are final and refunds are only allowed in limited circumstances, as explained in this section and the Canceled, Postponed, Rescheduled and Moved Events section below.

If the event is canceled: no action is required to obtain a refund; we will issue a refund to the original method of payment used at time of purchase. If the event is postponed, rescheduled, or moved: your ticket(s) are still valid, and no further action is required. No! None of our course content is designed for one specific profession. It does not matter if you are a plumber, pharmacist, coach, clinician, archaeologist, or accountant.

How Much Time Do I Need To Make This Work?

And if you can’t start right away because you’re already taking another course or overloaded on books to finish… you can reserve your spot and begin when you are ready!

These lessons aren’t live, and you won’t “get behind” if you have to miss a day. Each module features pre-recorded content that is conveniently available online inside our training portal. You can login whenever you want, at your own time and on your own schedule.

How Will This Channel Function?

The ultimate goal is to make this Channel crowd-sourced and community-run. That means if you have suggestions or want to see certain content be sure to let us know.

Initially and as we get used to the platform, we are going to start by dripping content early in the week and then respond to your comments and questions later in the week!

As the community grows we will encourage members to answer other member’s questions. Think of this as a much more personal Facebook or social media community.

How Do I Post On A Comment?

You can comment using video or audio. All comments have a one-minute time limit.

To add a comment:

  1. Go to the Post you’d like to comment on and tap Add a Comment.
  2. Tap the red button to start recording your video message.
  3. You’ll see the ring moving around the record button indicating that you’re recording. To stop recording tap the red button again.
  4. If you’d like to record an audio-only message, tap the video camera icon. You will see your profile image displayed.

How Can I Connect 1 on 1 With Another Member?
If you’d like to connect with another member in the Channel:

  1. Open the Marco Polo Channels app and navigate to the Channel.
  2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner of your Channel.
  3. Select Member Directory.
  4. Search for and tap the name of the member you’d like to connect with.
  5. Select Send a chat invitation.
  6. Once that person accepts the chat invitation, you’ll be able to connect with each other via the Marco Polo app.

How Is This Different From The Apprenticeship?

The Apprenticeship™ is our flagship live communication workshop, aimed at helping people of all kind strategize for and manage difficult interpersonal and communication situations that arise in daily life. This workshop focuses on learning tactics for and practicing tackling hard conversations, hiring and firing, negotiations, family and office politics, and much more.

The Speaker School is our newest live workshop and designed for individuals who have a strong desire to improve some aspect of their speaking whether that be for a presentation, pitch, interview or other public engagement. This workshop will offer individuals a place to both refine and rehearse so their message is unmistakably clear and powerful.

Both workshops are live, in-person, two days and centered around experiential learning. Both will feature a hands-on approach complete with video analysis, formal evaluation and peer/self reflection and feedback. You’ll be taught how to practice and refine under varying levels of difficulty so that when the time comes, you are prepared for any conversation or presentation that comes your way.  

What Will I Leave Speaker School With?

Every attendee of the speaker school workshop will leave having undergone extensive live practice and repetition of the message they seek to refine. You will also leave with game plan for the message you want to deliver, how you want to deliver it and how to captivate and move your audience to action.

You will also receive a formal evaluation, video analysis and peer feedback.

Without a doubt, the hands-on learning aspect of our workshops is where the magic happens. Where else do you have the chance to practice these skills without being at risk of losing a job, opportunity, money or relationship?


What If I Don’t Have A Formal Presentation To Give?

That’s okay! Our speaker school isn’t just for people giving formal presentations or even pitches.

Here’s the thing- at some point we can guarantee that you’ll be asked to or need to persuade, synthesize, influence or motivate SOMEONE in your life.

The skills necessary to decide what you want to share, how to share it, what they need / want to hear and how to deliver in a way that gets AND keeps their attention is absolutely crucial regardless of what field, profession or phase of your life you’re in.

Learning this process will be immeasurably important and offer you a competitive advantage in all aspects of life.

What Makes This Different From Other Speaking Schools?

While we can’t speak to every other speaking school out there (there are quite a few), we can promise that ours is one of the only ones that is entirely hands-on and practical. What Makes This A Challenge?

Great question! We know from experience that the best way to grow is to put ourselves in situations where we have to not only learn, but test our skills. Our hope is that by both teaching communication content AND providing you with small challenges throughout, we can spark deeper learning.

This is not a challenge against other people so much as a challenge against yourself. However, there may be a few opportunities for prizes along the way 😉

How Much Time Will This Take?

This challenge is completely self-paced and asynchronous.

While we will be dropping new content at the beginning of each week and then following up with a live Zoom Q&A on Thursdays, you don’t need to be there live; we will send you a copy of the recording to watch on your own time!

The point of the challenge is to give you something small each day for a month. There’s a reason it’s not as time intensive as some of our other programs. We think of this as digestible micro-dosing of communication and interpersonal skills.

Like anything, you’ll get out of this what you put into it!

How Does The Challenge Work?

As soon as you enter the challenge you’ll be invited to a private digital community.

Once the challenge starts, we will follow the same cadence for each of the four weeks.

Monday: We’ll drop new content into our private digital community around a particular topic. These teachings will be a combination of curated mixed media: video, private podcasts, lectures, etc. You’ll also receive a handout/PDF each week with further information and challenges to implement as you go!

Thursday: You’ll be invited to a private Zoom Q&A / happy hour. During this time we will answer questions, have deeper conversations about the topic of the week, and maybe even share a few laughs.

Can’t make the Thursday Zoom call? No worries! These will be recorded and shared in the group afterward.

Throughout the week you’ll be encouraged to share and interact in the group while also having access to our team.

How Are The Calls Structured?

Weekly group coaching sessions always include some aspect of problem solving, accountability and strategy sharing.

However, we mix up the format of calls throughout the six months to include:

  • Monthly hot seats: everyone gets a hot seat EVERY MONTH so you can benefit from and even more individualized focus
  • Topic based breakout rooms: where you join an AoC facilitator for a specific topic based discussion.
  • Guest Masterclasses: Occasionally we will bring in other subject matter experts from a variety of fields to provide further insight and feedback
How Long Are The Calls?

The calls last 75-90 minutes depending on the discussion!

How Many People Are In The Group?

Coalition groups are purposefully kept small and intimate to facilitate a close-knit community.

We typically accept around 10-15 individuals per group.
